Description: Hand pulled natural porcupine quills, perfect for all quill work projects. Approximately 1500 to 2000 quills per package. Quills will need to be cleaned prior to use. To clean the quills, remove any hair or debris, and then soak the quills in hot soapy water, rinse, and repeat until the quills are a nice bright white color. This should remove the oils from the quill, and make dying them much easier. Quill lengths vary between 1 - 2 1/2 inches.  We do not sort them, so expect to cull out quills that are too short. Match them up in size and colors for your project, and cut off the sharp tips on both ends. Until they are cut, handle the quills with care. They are sharp!

Great for me

This is my first time buying quills, I was pleased! They are stinky and it took a while to sort them out of the hair, but they cleaned up nicely and dyed beautifuly. I now have plenty of quills for my projects. I would buy from here again.

small and stinky !

i ordered an ounce of these quills, they came in yellow, dirty, and very stinky! there was even some bugs in the container!
i harvest my own quills, so i know that these were either not cleaned, or very poorly done. there was also tons of hair quills. i understand they’re supposed to be small but the containers i got really weren’t usable for me.

I am sorry to hear this. We do try to remove as much of the hair and dirt when packaging this product. There are instructions in the product description which explain how to clean the quills before using them.
